Creating personal impact and presence
Listen here
Creating impact and presence, be that in your own personal image, public speaking, leadership, or even content creation, comes down to a mix of authenticity, clarity, confidence, and emotional resonance.
Impact is about lasting influence and having memorable value. You need to know your purpose…”what change do I want to create”? Be mission-driven, people resonate with a clear “why.” You also need to deliver value and show that you can solve real problems. This means showing your worth when you are speaking, writing, and leading.
You need to tell powerful stories…ones that people will remember, making your message relatable through narrative, not just facts. This means avoiding being fluffy or vague. Use strong, direct language and make sure people understand exactly what you stand for.
Focus on people’s emotions…people feel before they think. Make them laugh, reflect, get inspired, or feel seen. Presence is the energy you project and how people experience you in the moment.
When you are with people, be in “the moment.” Listen deeply and eliminate distractions. People feel when you are truly there. Control your body language. Stand or sit with confidence. Make eye contact and use gestures with intention. Slow, calm movements signal authority.
Master your voice and vary the pace and tone. Emphasise key words. Pauses can be more powerful than words. Exude authentic confidence…This is not arrogance. It is quiet certainty.
Know your strengths, and own your imperfections. Play to the former and work on the latter…people will also resonate with you more!
Dress and style with intention. Your appearance is your first impression. Make sure that your dress code also matches your message!
Dressing for influence is about strategic self-presentation. It’s not just about looking good, it’s about aligning your appearance with your message, your goals, and how you want to be perceived. Your outfit should visually communicate your intention before you speak.
When you consistently show up with presence, and deliver with impact, people listen—and remember. This is what builds influence, trust, and leadership.
Make that impression!
