Half Year…time to reflect and plan

Don’t let time slip by! Listen here

Goal setting is something that is often discussed and in particular at the start of the year. New Year…new goals and new ambitions! Yet here we are just past the midpoint of the year and the big question…” have you reviewed your progress against plan”? Caught up in day-to-day activities, things can often get forgotten, or overlooked!

Some simple questions…

Are you on track against the targets that you set for yourself and the business? These need to be both numbers based and also goals/targets that deliver the numbers…set against products or services.

Have you done all of the things that you set out to?

Are you feeling confident about the second half of the year?

Once a high-level overview has taken place, its relatively simple to see what is working and what is not. You can’t plan forward without a review of the past.

What has worked well, and what significant achievements? What were the stages that helped you to get there and with this in mind, can you improve further?

Where things fell short, what caused this, and what do you need to change?

As you get into more detail, can you pinpoint exactly why you did not achieve certain goals? Is this down to something that you either did…or failed to do…i.e.,…changes needed yourself? In all of this, ask yourself…is there anything that is preventing any of this?.

Next, take on board all of the thinking and plan for the immediate short term (four weeks), and for the remaining six months…make sure that any changes needed are implemented and working.

Are you clear on your overall plan and what you need to do? What will success look like, and what help will you need? What are the next 2 to 3 steps needed?

Only by reflecting and analysing the past, can you plan and succeed for the future…Everything happens for a reason…have you correctly planned?
